Not every sunset is a wonderful as the one shown in the headline graphic of this article. As if you were not already expecting it, after May 31, 2019, access to Intuit add-on services will be discontinued for all QuickBooks 2016 Desktop products. I have a 240GB boot drive on my CMP 5,1 running High Sierra which is about 90% filled and which I want to replace with a 500GB external SSD. Can I create an APFS disk image on a hard drive, clone the old boot drive to the disk image and then clone the disk image to the 500GB SSD? I would recommend the USB thumb drive as you can verify it is working before opening the system and besides setting up a drive to deal with mishaps is a good idea! You still want to get the external case to repurpose your old SSD and besides you may want to move some old stuff over to your new bigger SSD.
